TRADITIONAL THAI BODYWORK

A four-hour
journey.

More than twenty years of study inform this personal and meditative approach to Nuad Boron bodywork.

THE FOUR-HOUR NUAD BORON JOURNEY

Unhurried time.
Attentive touch.

Nuad Boron is traditional Thai bodywork practiced on a mat, fully clothed. It brings rhythm, pressure and assisted movement together in a way that is both physical and meditative.

My version is deliberately spacious. Across four hours, there is time to move carefully through the body, allow for stillness, and adapt pressure, pace and positioning to the individual. It is not a sequence delivered identically to every person.

My introduction to the tradition began at the Cambodian Home for the Blind Massage School in Siem Reap. More than two decades of practice and study, across six countries on four continents, continue to shape how I work today.

WHAT IS TRADITIONAL THAI BODYWORK?

Not a treatment to receive.
A practice to experience.

Thai yoga bodywork blends pressure, guided movement, assisted stretching and moments of stillness. It may feel like a slow conversation between two bodies, with room to notice the breath and respond to what is comfortable.

Rooted in living traditions

Known in Thailand as nuad thai, traditional Thai massage developed through centuries of regional practices and cultural exchange. It is often taught alongside ideas from Thai traditional medicine and Buddhist-influenced contemplative practice.

Thai practitioners may describe pathways known as Sen. These are traditional concepts used to organize bodywork and are not the same as scientifically mapped nerves, blood vessels or other anatomical structures.

Made for the whole person

Rather than applying lotion on a massage table, sessions traditionally take place fully clothed on a floor mat. The practitioner may use palms, forearms, elbows, knees and feet to apply broad or focused pressure, while supporting gentle movements and stretches.

There is no requirement to be flexible, and no need to hold uncomfortable positions. The pace, intensity and movements are adapted through ongoing communication.

HOW THE SESSION WORKS

More than
massage alone.

01

Rhythmic compression

Broad, steady pressure and mindful pacing encourage a sense of contact and continuity throughout the session.

02

Assisted movement

Yoga-like stretches, gentle rocking and joint movements are adapted to individual comfort and range of motion.

03

Rest and integration

Quiet pauses are part of the method. They make room for observation and a more receptive experience.

THE THAI YOGA JOURNEY

Four hours.
A different sense of time.

It is easy to call Thai bodywork “assisted yoga,” but that shorthand leaves out much of the experience. During a longer session, the body can move between being supported, stretched, held in stillness and given space to rest. Some guests find the experience deeply quiet; others become curious about sensations, memories or emotions that arise.

There is no prescribed emotional outcome. Goo does not ask you to achieve a breakthrough. The invitation is to stay present, communicate what feels appropriate and allow the session to unfold at your own pace.

THAI BODYWORK & TABLE MASSAGE

What makes it
different?

THE SETTING

On a floor mat

Traditional Thai bodywork uses a cushioned mat so practitioner and guest have room to change positions and explore supported movements.

THE CLOTHING

Fully clothed

Loose, comfortable clothes replace the usual draping and oil-based techniques of many table massages.

THE MOVEMENT

Active support, passive ease

The practitioner may move and support your arms, legs or torso through comfortable ranges rather than working only with soft-tissue pressure.

THE EXPERIENCE

Attentive and adaptable

Rhythm, pressure, supported postures, breath and quiet pauses create an experience shaped to the individual, not a single fixed sequence.

QUESTIONS BEFORE YOUR SESSION

What you might
want to know.

Do I need yoga experience or flexibility?

No. Thai bodywork is not a yoga class, and you do not have to perform or achieve any stretch. Movements are adapted to your range of motion and comfort.

What should I wear?

Loose-fitting, comfortable clothing that allows you to move. You remain dressed and the session usually takes place on a padded floor mat, with cushions or blankets as useful supports.

What can I expect to feel afterward?

People report different experiences, such as relaxation, changes in how they perceive tension or a sense of ease in movement. Some may experience temporary soreness. No particular physical, emotional or spiritual result is guaranteed.

Can pressure or stretching be adjusted?

Yes. Tell Goo what feels comfortable. You can ask for less pressure, a different position, a pause or an end to any technique at any point.

What if I have an injury or medical condition?

Share any relevant injuries, recent surgery, pregnancy, circulation concerns, fragile bones or other health considerations before the appointment. Some situations call for avoiding particular techniques or seeking advice from an appropriate healthcare professional before bodywork. Thai massage is not a replacement for medical care.

PREPARING FOR YOUR SESSION

Come as you are.
Dress to move.

Wear comfortable clothing that allows for stretching and movement. Traditional Nuad Boron is performed without the need to undress. Allow sufficient time before and after your session, and communicate any injuries, limitations or comfort preferences when you inquire.

Bodywork is offered as a wellness practice, not a substitute for medical assessment or treatment. Your comfort and consent guide the session, and any movement or pressure can be adjusted or declined.
