HYBRID · 200 INSTRUCTIONAL HOURS

Learn wherever you are.
Complete in Costa Rica.

A 200-hour pathway for dedicated students who want to understand yoga more deeply and develop the skills to teach responsibly.

The program combines 160 hours of online study with the final 40 hours of in-person training in Costa Rica. The online component allows space for reading, lectures, self-practice and assignments. In Costa Rica, learning shifts toward applied teaching, observation, hands-on practice and final assessment.

The program is offered through Yogandia School of Yoga and Ayurveda. This training is intended to study yoga as a complete discipline—not merely as a collection of exercises.

THE TEACHERS' TEACHER

Teaching teachers.
Extending the reach.

“I teach others to teach yoga to further my reach.”

I teach yoga because I know how much it has given me—in movement, decision-making, relationships, perspective and the everyday act of navigating a life. Training teachers is a way of passing those tools onward, beyond the people I can personally meet.

The purpose is not to produce teachers who copy my voice or sequence. It is to help each student discover an honest relationship with yoga, develop sound teaching skills, and find the confidence to guide others responsibly.

01 / THE INTENTION

Find your own voice

Study the traditions. Understand the body. Practice, teach, receive feedback, and learn when to adapt. Your perspective is part of what you bring to the classroom.

02 / THE POSSIBILITY

A path of your choosing

Some graduates pursue teaching. Others come for deeper personal study. Both can leave with a more informed practice and practical tools for life.

WHAT YOU WILL STUDY

Rooted in practice.
Built for teaching.

01 / FOUNDATIONS

History & Philosophy

Yoga's historical context, its philosophical foundations, and ethical study through the Yamas and Niyamas.

02 / PRACTICE

Asana, Breath & Meditation

Personal sadhana, postural understanding, pranayama, attention and meditation practice.

03 / THE BODY

Anatomy & Adaptation

Functional anatomy, observation, alignment concepts and thoughtful adaptations for different bodies.

04 / DAILY LIFE

Ayurveda & Lifestyle

Foundational Ayurvedic ideas and their place in daily routines, self-study and seasonal living.

05 / CLASSROOM

Teaching Methods

Language, sequencing, communication, demonstration, class planning and responsible guidance.

06 / PRACTICUM

Practice Teaching

Observation, feedback, teaching practice and final assessment during the in-person intensive.

HOW WE LEARN TO TEACH

Study deeply.
Practice honestly.

01 / TECHNIQUES, TRAINING & PRACTICE

Understand the asana

Explore foundational Hatha yoga postures, their intended actions, variations and safe instruction for different students. Refine your personal practice as you learn to teach.

02 / TEACHING METHODOLOGY

Discover your voice

Practice clear communication, sequencing, demonstration, thoughtful assisting, and the use of music or literature to shape a class with intention.

03 / ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY

See the whole person

Learn modern anatomy, physiology and biomechanics while separately exploring traditional yogic frameworks such as the chakras, nadis, koshas and vayus.

04 / PHILOSOPHY, LIFESTYLE & ETHICS

Carry yoga into life

Study Patañjali's Eight-Limbed Path, the Yamas and Niyamas, and questions of responsibility, compassion, self-study and what it means to live the practice.

05 / THE PRACTICUM

Learn by teaching

The best way to become a yoga teacher is to teach yoga. Expect supported practice teaching, observation and constructive feedback, including in the final Costa Rica immersion.

06 / CARE & INTEGRATION

Allow space for change

Intensive learning can be physically and emotionally demanding. Reflection, self-care, rest and community help make the experience both challenging and sustainable.

A note on the history: Earlier Samasati teacher trainings were offered as month-long residential immersions. The current offering is a different 200-hour hybrid format: 160 hours online, followed by the final 40 hours in Costa Rica. Historical dates and retreat inclusions do not apply to this program.

THE COSTA RICA COMPONENT

Bring the study
into the room.

The final 40 hours emphasize teaching practice, posture clinics, adaptations, observation, clear communication and feedback. It's the point where the online material becomes lived experience through in-person work with others.

“A teacher develops through practice, study, observation and a willingness to keep learning.”
